About the SPED Department:
The Mountain View Special Education Department consists of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in the areas of speech and language pathology, occupational services, learning services, as well as psychological services and mental wellness. Our goal is to provide comprehensive assessment to identify any barriers children may have to accessing their general classroom environment. This may include anything from mild to significant developmental delays, learning disabilities, to speech and language concerns, physical disabilities, or behavioral and emotional concerns. Once identified, in collaboration with parents and teachers, the special education department works to develop and implement goals and interventions that will help students overcome or compensate for any barriers to their learning.

A school counselor is available to provide whole-class social and emotional learning. They are also available for smaller groups of children or individuals who may need support to manage emotions, improve friendship skills, or other "soft skills" while at school. Please visit our school counselor's webpage as well for further information about their work.
